![]() AT&T Might Have Angered Customers Still Paying Off iPhone 12, iPhone 13, Pixel 6 Purchases + more notable news. But is that convenience worth having to upgrade every three years, now every year, worth it? I said no a long time ago. Albeit you have to visit the bank site, download, import into quicken, and accept.more involved than just clicking the update button in quicken. ![]() I've learned that most banks do have an export feature that you can just as easily use. It's a glorified spreadsheet, leave t alone. Some features went missing and small changes seemed like they were changed just for the sake of making a change to show they did something to the program. That got old since I really just cared about the entry, tracking, and reconciliation of $$ and the new versions seemed to be getting worse and worse functionality wise. I did have one bank that I downloaded directly from and it made reconciliation easy, but that was tied to having the new version of quicken "they" said would need to be used (about every three years they required an upgrade). I stopped upgrading to newer versions of Quicken years ago and think I'm still on 2013. I use it to print a few recurring checks every month and that's its only use-I could just as easily hand write the checks but printing them is nicer-so there is absolutely no incentive for me to install the more current version of Quicken I have particuarly since I use XPMode for a few other things as well.īesides, I have soft spot for 16 bit software.'-}} >You really should move on from Quicken 4, imo While I recognize that 99% of people using Quicken are using more current versions so this becomes a moot point, it's just like Intuit to block users/make it very inconvenient for users by not writing a simple "convert old to new" utility-as a former computer systems analyst and programmer, the code for this would be pretty straightforward-but Intuit's approach is much like the old Bell system as in "we're THE phone company, we don't have to care".'-}} Yes! Thanks for mentioning that as I'd forgotten than detail. >but you would need to use Quicken 6, 98 (possibly 99), and 2004 as intermediaries. You really should move on from Quicken 4, imo. Intuit use to have a link to download Q98 or Q99 at the link above, but removed it. I don't know if it will work to install Q6. Take note of Q6 registration number, 0025762206, when installing Q6. ima image files, but it looks like ImgBurn and WinImage can deal with them. When I had my first Win7 system custom built, I browsed around ebay and bought a (slightly) more current version of Quicken (2011 I think) and then discovered that there was no way to move my old Quicken 4 for Windows data to the new version-short of manually-and since I had set up XPMode for a couple of other old applications, the new version of Quicken is basically floorware and I continue to use Quicken 4 for Windows.I believe you can update Quicken 4 data files to something newer, but you would need to use Quicken 6, 98 (possibly 99), and 2004 as intermediaries.įrom a search, Quicken 6 disk images can be downloaded here: I'm still using Quicken 4 for Windows-very, very, very old version that I run via XPMode (via Win7/Pro)-and I only use once a month to print my checks for a few recurring bills.
